| He
burst into the local scene in June 1982 with the Platinum
album, "Martin Take One." Five albums later,
in 1988, the Concert King released "Say That You
Love Me" in Hawaii. Whilst he has been successful
with practically all his releases, having gold and platinum
awards, it is in 1994 when Martin first reached a double
platinum status with "Roads," selling 80,000
copies.
In
1997, Martin had three releases: a CD/cassette single
of "What's On the Other Side;" another Platinum
album, "Journeys;" and a special edition
of "Journeys" that was released in Hawaii
via Tower Records. A year later, Martin broke his
records with "Forever," selling 120,000
units. The triple-platinum record became a series
of records, with the two follow up albums: "Forever
Forever" (February 1999) and "Return to
Forever" (December 1999), which turned Platinum
and Double Platinum respectively.
Martin
released a LIVE album in 2000. Recorded during one
of his stints at the Cultural Center of the Philippines,
Martin was accompanied by the elite Philippine Harmonic
Orchestra. In 2002, his "Chasing Time" album
turned Gold even before the actual launch of the album.
The follow-up, "Chasing Time 2" also achieved
the same.
Martin
Nievera began performing internationally way back
in 1989, first at the Harrah's Casino Lounge in Reno
Nevada. He then took on the Palace Hotel Ballroom
of Guam in 1996. Stints in Australia, Singapore, Hong
Kong, the Middle East, Canada well as the many cities
in America soon followed.
Martin
has sold out hundreds of shows both here and abroad;
raked in countless awards and accolades as singer/composer
and TV host; starred in several movies; and hosted
in own TV hosts and even several television events.
In
2005, Martin's comeback with an album after numerous
shows here and abroad, Martin's and EMI's new concept
relies with an array of break-up songs which is a
follow-up to his hit album "Best Wishes "
(compilation of best wedding songs) launched in 2004.
"When Love Is Gone" boasts 17 tracks of
love song after a love song which is exquisite and
endearingly heartwarming. Ten of which are newly recorded
tracks and another concept album made up of songs
that make tears flow and hearts bleed.
The
album's first single is "Goodbye"-song about
a lost love and Martin's duet with Ms. Pops Fernandez
who also is touted the Concert Queen. "Goodby
" is a remake and was originally sung by Regine
Velasquez but written by Martin Nievera and Louie
Ocampo. The used-to-be couples will also be seen in
a Goodbye's music video which was directed by Louie
Ignacio.
Martin's
album "When Love Is Gone" which is now certified
Platinum album which have sold 15,000 units all over
the country. Martin was also awarded as the 19th Awit
Awards (2006) as Favorite Male Artist of the Year
and awardee for Dangal ng Musikang Pilipino Award.
"Awit
ng Puso," is Martin's recently released album
(August 2006). The album's concept covers old OPM
songs that have swept listeners heart and scaled the
charts in the past. This album serves as a tribute
to all OPM classic songwriters and singers of all
time. First single was WHEN I MET YOU, an APO Hiking
Society original hit in the 80s.
